Smart Participation Design: Prescriptive Knowledge for Bottom-Up Participation

Citizen participation is a vital aspect for smart cities, as solutions developed by and with citizens promote transparent participatory collaboration within city foster the development construction of meaningful living environment. However, design knowledge on citizen-initiated at same time ICT-supported projects (referred to Smart Participation) are scarce in practice under-researched. In this paper, we follow Design Science Research approach create scenarios. Based ten conducted expert interviews active participants issues identified literature, seven principles. We subsequently evaluate principles four additional experts who designed currently operating large platform. Our results contribute prescriptive both research how beneficially facilitate context cities.
